On the occasion of the press conference to be held on 8 March 2022 as part of the European Telecommunications Summit, which will bring together the 27 ministers of the same name, the Mayor of Nevers will officially announce his support for the candidacy of Bourges Cher Centre-Val de Loire as European Capital of Culture 2028. The elected representatives of the city of Nevers and Bourges thus operate a historical rapprochement between the two communities.

All the cultural policies carried out by the City of Nevers (heritage, artistic creation and teaching, performing arts and public reading) will benefit from this dynamic to create new projects in partnership with the City of Bourges and its European candidacy (cross-exhibition, co-direction of shows, enhancement of the common heritage of the territories of Cher and Nièvre...).

In order to strengthen the attractiveness of the territory and the enhancement of the cultural activities of the City of Nevers, the municipality engages with other communities to promote Bourges CEC 2028. Projects stamped “Bourges CEC 2028” will take place throughout 2022 and 2023.

A work is underway between the city of Nevers, Bourges and the Centre-Val de Loire region around a mobility solution in favor of Nevers’ inhabitants wishing to enjoy the Printemps de Bourges. The aim of the scheme, which will be to make it possible for Nevers’ inhabitants to go to Bourges and return safely and to give priority to low-carbon transport, will be the subject of a specific communication in March.
