A prize for European creation: Bourges 2028 and the Festival du Film de Demain join forces

From its next edition in June 2026, Bourges 2028 and the Festival du Film de Demain will highlight European creation through the introduction of an Honorary Prize. Each year, this distinction will be linked to the presence of a guest European artist and will take the form of an original trophy, designed and created by artist Juliette Leperlier, represented by the Capazza Gallery, an emblematic venue of the region.

This partnership reflects a shared ambition: to strengthen cultural cooperation between the Centre-Val de Loire region and Europe, building on artistic initiatives rooted in local territories. Through this Honorary Prize, Bourges 2028 and the Festival du Film de Demain aim to support regional artistic creation, accompany emerging artists, and contribute to the cultural outreach of the region within a European dynamic.

Together, the two partners promote a common vision: to make human-scale cities spaces for artistic experimentation, dialogue, and transmission, in resonance with the values embodied by the title of European Capital of Culture. A shared conviction also reflected in the commitment of the city of Vierzon within the Bourges 2028 Matrix — a network of like-minded, human-scale cities.

As Frédéric Hocquard, General Delegate of Bourges 2028, puts it:

“What we stand for together with the Festival du Film de Demain is culture as a connecting thread. A link between artists and citizens, between territories, between cultures across Europe. By partnering with the Festival du Film de Demain, Bourges 2028 reaffirms its ambition to foster the circulation of artists, works, and narratives, from our territories to Europe.”
