As part of the Joli Mois de l’Europe, the City of Bourges welcomed the České Budějovice Orchestra to the Théâtre Jacques Cœur on Tuesday 13 May for an evening celebrating cultural dialogue and the shared experience of music across Europe.
This gathering has particular significance for Bourges 2028: the Czech city of České Budějovice will also hold the title of European Capital of Culture in 2028. A strong symbolic connection between two territories embarking on the same European journey, where culture becomes a space for cooperation, the circulation of artists and encounters between residents.
Alongside the City of Bourges, Louise Tournillon, International Relations Manager at Bourges 2028, took part in welcoming the orchestra and the Czech delegations.
Beyond the musical performance itself, the evening offered a concrete illustration of what the European Capital of Culture title can achieve: building bridges between European territories, fostering artistic exchange and bringing to life an open, vibrant and accessible Europe of culture.
The same spirit can be found in Next Stage Europe, the European music cooperation programme led by Bourges 2028 and launched during Printemps de Bourges Crédit Mutuel 2026.
