2nd event: “Bourgeois Gaze vs Popular Perspectives”
Who gets to tell the stories of working-class people on screen? Who decides what we see? Between fascination, caricature and invisibility, this second event explores how stories are shaped by socially situated perspectives.
Drawing on the concept of the “bourgeois gaze” developed by Rob Grams, we will explore how certain dominant perspectives influence the stories we tell – and, together with Corinne Masiero, how these representations can be challenged and transformed. 🔥
🌟 Rob Grams, co-founder of Frustration magazine and author of Bourgeois Gaze, explores how cinema tells the story of the world from a perspective that is often presented as neutral, but in reality reflects a particular social viewpoint.
🎭 Corinne Masiero, an outspoken actress and advocate, has spent years speaking openly about social inequalities. Through her roles and public positions, she champions fairer and more diverse representations of working-class people in the cultural world.
