On 16 and 17 June 2026, Bourges will host the Climat Libé Tour for two days of debates, meetings and discussions around a central question: what place for culture in a Europe facing multiple tensions?
The war in Ukraine, the rise of nationalism, political pressure on certain institutions and artists, the growing fragility of cultural models: across Europe, culture has become a subject of public debate, and sometimes even a battleground for political tensions. Against this backdrop, the Climat Libé Tour aims to open up dialogue between artists, journalists, intellectuals, political representatives and citizens.
Over the two days, discussions will explore artistic freedom, the role of artists in the face of democratic crises, inequalities in access to culture across different areas, and the challenges faced by many cultural organisations amid declining funding.
Among the announced guests are Judith Godrèche, Kiddy Smile, Hiam Abbass, Roselyne Bachelot, filmmaker Yolande Zauberman, as well as musicians Flore Benguigui (formerly of L’Impératrice) and P.R2B. Other figures from the cultural, media and voluntary sectors will also be taking part throughout the event.
As a partner of the Climat Libé Tour, Bourges 2028 is joining this major event, which closely echoes the reflections at the heart of the European Capital of Culture: exploring the role of culture in contemporary European society, as a space for dialogue, freedom, debate and connection between local areas and their residents.
The event is organised in partnership with Bourges 2028 and the Centre-Val de Loire Region, with the support of the French Biodiversity Agency, Groupe VYV, Fondation Jean-Jaurès, Le Lierre, Oxfam France and France Télévisions.
