Handi’Expérience: A Successful First Edition!

Published on Thursday 4 June 2026

More than 400 participants and organisers, and a dozen associations involved: the first edition of Handi’Expérience showcased the strength of collective action across the local area!

On 3 June, in the exceptional setting of the Jardin de l’Archevêché, local residents, associations, institutions and partners came together for a day centred around discovery, dialogue and inclusion.

Wheelchair accessibility courses, an introduction to sign language, discovering Braille, opportunities to meet and exchange: a wide range of experiences that offered a different perspective on accessibility and creating a welcoming environment for everyone.

Led by the Handix’Huit collective, with the support of Bourges 2028 and the City of Bourges, the event also highlighted the strength of collaboration across the Cher department, with organisations from across the area taking part, including APEI de Saint-Amand-Montrond.

Beyond the numbers, it was above all the collective energy that made this first edition so memorable. The energy of a group already taking concrete action to build the legacy of Bourges 2028, even before the title year.

Because creating lasting change in a local area means bringing people together, creating opportunities to meet, changing perspectives and building a more accessible culture together. Yesterday, this ambition took shape throughout the grounds of the Jardin de l’Archevêché.

A huge thank you to all the associations, volunteers, partners, organisers and participants who helped make this day such a success. Through your actions, you are already demonstrating what the legacy of Bourges 2028 can look like.
