Alongside Bourges 2028, 22 cities are saying “yes” to bringing culture and creativity to life across all territories!
Bourges, Issoudun, Aubigny-sur-Nère, Nevers, Sancerre… for the 30th edition of the Mayors and Local Authorities Fair, human-scale cities took centre stage alongside Bourges 2028. A moment of exchange and reflection, brought together by a shared conviction: culture can transform our fellow citizens’ daily lives and the future of our territories.
Under the patronage of the French Ministry of Culture, the Bourges 2028 team and elected officials presented La Matrice, an informal cultural engineering network bringing together 22 “territories for the future” united by a shared momentum.
Elected officials, cultural stakeholders, citizens… we know that solutions to the challenges of our time often emerge in human-scale territories, where there is no other choice but to rely on collective action, ingenuity, solidarity, participation and civic engagement in order to live better together. And the good news is that across Europe, these human-scale cities represent 150 million inhabitants!
Alongside Yann Galut, Mayor of Bourges, Frédéric Hocquard, General Delegate of Bourges 2028, and Élise Herrmann from the French Ministry of Culture, the discussion brought together voices from across the region: Laurence Renier, Mayor of Aubigny-sur-Nère; Denis Thuriot, Mayor of Nevers; Laurent Pabiot, Mayor of Sancerre; and Sophie Cazé, Deputy for Culture in Issoudun.
