In 2026, the CR! scales up to make room for every imagination!

Published on Wednesday 4 March 2026

After a first edition marked by exceptional engagement — 185 applications submitted, 93 winning projects, and 48 municipalities represented — a new milestone is reached.

The 2026 edition strengthens support and structures the programme around three dedicated tracks, in partnership with key new stakeholders: the French Ministry of Education, the Info Jeunes network, and organisations working in priority urban neighbourhoods.
An evolution that reflects a clear ambition: to enable all residents of our region to take part in—and benefit from—the momentum of the European Capital of Culture.

Three tracks to broaden participation
The 2026 edition is now structured around three complementary programmes, developed in collaboration with new partners.

CR! des élèves
From kindergarten to high school, across the Cher area, classrooms become spaces for creation. Together with their teachers and alongside an artist, students imagine and develop a collective project rooted in their local territory. A way to bring forward a true 2028 generation.

CR! des jeunes
For 15–29 year-olds, the CR! becomes a true incubator — an opportunity to learn, experiment, and express themselves freely.
With the Info Jeunes network, its InfoLabs and InfoTrucks, participants have five months to turn an idea into a concrete project… across the entire Centre-Val de Loire region.

CR! quartiers en action
In priority neighbourhoods, projects are co-created with residents.
With the involvement of local associations working on the ground every day, Bourges 2028 supports a form of culture that is lived everywhere, by and for everyone!

Support, reimagined
As Pascal Keiser, General Commissioner of Bourges 2028, puts it:
“Support remains at the heart of the CR!, but it is being reinvented. It is becoming more closely tailored to the realities of each audience.”

With these new partners, Bourges 2028 is strengthening its collaborative approach to creation and laying the groundwork for a lasting legacy for the region.

Applications open on March 16, 2026.
Find out more about the application process and apply on the dedicated CR! page.
