From 23 to 30 November 2026, four Bourges 2028 volunteers will travel to Trenčín, Slovakia, to support the local team during the closing ceremony of its European Capital of Culture year. A week to discover the behind-the-scenes work of a major European cultural event, meet fellow volunteers and share a collective experience across borders!
The exchange will continue in 2027, when Bourges will welcome four volunteers from Trenčín during the first half of the year. They will take part in the Next Stage project, as part of a new phase of cooperation between the two cities.
Exchanges that bring Europe to life
These initiatives are part of Bourges 2028’s citizen participation programmes, and more specifically the European Citizen Network project. Its aim is to build lasting connections and encourage encounters between the people of Bourges and those from former and future European Capitals of Culture.
By giving volunteers the opportunity to share their experiences, skills and enthusiasm, these exchanges turn European cooperation into something tangible, experienced first-hand. Another way to discover Europe’s cultural diversity and contribute to a collective adventure!
