3 european symposiums around our 3 axes in 2022

From 2021 and following several participatory workshops carried out over a year, the Bourges project was structured around three thematics of work:

  • Bourges 2028 – Territories of the Future or how cities with less than 100,000 inhabitants can be inspiring and model for cities of similar size in France and Europe
  • Culture as a lever against climate change and how a European Capital of Culture project can fuel reflection on new low-carbon mobility (mobility of artists, works, audiences) but also participate in the commitment in favor of preservation of biodiversity, enhancement of rurality and how in the way of thinking our new infrastructures take into account the environmental dimension.
  • The role of the artist and the author in the European society of the 21st century. Bourges 2028 wanted to put the artist and the author at the center of its project by imagining in Bourges a European city of artists and authors.

In order to build our project, we organized during the year 2022, 3 European conferences with participants and speakers from the local to Europe, on the territories of the bid (Bourges, Avignon, Noirlac – rurality of the Cher) on the 3 themes of our application. For these conferences, we used remote videoconferencing and simultaneous translation technologies with a specialized company in Berlin in order to limit travel and the carbon impact of long-distance speakers. These conferences brought together a total of nearly 300 active participants, 29 speakers from 17 countries and 8 ECoCs, and fed the project.
